Interacting with Visual Poem - An AR-based Digital Artwork

In this research, an AR-based digital artwork “Mind Log” is designed and evaluated. We employ augmented reality techniques to create digital artworks to present interactive poems. This work is established where the digital poem is generated via the interplay between a video film and a text-based poem. The creation of this artwork follows a solid design flow, including: (1) concept formation, (2) prototype design, (3) expert-based evaluation which consists of cognitive walkthrough and heuristic evaluation, (4) the design of the final artwork which combines a visual poem generator and an AR system, and (5) a series of evaluations from the audiences’ points of view. The evaluation results show that this work achieves positive usability, the audiences enjoy the interaction with artworks, and moreover, such kind of AR-based digital poems are acceptable.
